So, anyway, I was thinking about Mrs. Winterbourne and the fact that Ricki Lake is a really lousy actress, and how if the movie were made today it would probably have Nia Vardalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding in Ricki Lake’s part.  So I was thinking about that and it occured to me that she can’t help being funny. This in itself is not bad, but I don’t think it would work with Brendan Fraser’s hotness bumbling humor. She’d totally upstage him. But then I realized that they wouldn’t use Brendan Fraser, they’d likely choose Matthew McConaughey. And that would suck, because Matthew McConaughey is neither hot or funny (sorry Matt, but the truth hurts).

So then you have the humor/drama parts totally switched and TOTALLY out of sync. The great thing about Mrs. Winterbourne is that if you don’t have the right sense of humor, the movie is a total snoozefest. You up the quality of the acting, humor, or drama, and it totally throws the whole thing off and it becomes another loser of a movie that DOESN’T have its devoted fans. Like Monster-in-Law.

Is there a point to this post? Absolutely not. Well, maybe you could say that it’s a good thing that classics are classics and to be grateful that they were made when they were and not to mess with them? Or maybe “timing is everything”. But most likely “Lori has lousy taste in movies”. I could probably come up with something really insightful and tie it into novel writing, but honestly? That’d be too much work, and I have a brand new Wii to play with. Yay!

***OK, so the reason I was thinking about Mrs. Winterbourne is that I was thinking about cars- specifically how Lexus and BMW are actually in the Buick class and not the Cadillac class even though most people get that mixed up. Well, my favorite line from that movie was as the chauffeur opens the door to the family’s Rolls Royce, she looks in and says something like “Wow, a Rolls Royce! This is like the Cadillac of automobiles!”. The chauffeur looks at her and calmly says “No, madame, the Cadillac is the Cadillac of automobiles. This is a Rolls Royce.” And from there my brain traveled on.

You’ll probably think that I found this video through DoshDosh’s tweet- you’d be wrong. I actually saw it on Yahoo yesterday, but DoshDosh tweeted the link today at a really good time for me to copy it out saving me time. Soooooo cuuuuuute.

#2- Which Way Did It Go, George?

This cracked me up. Also from Yahoo, I saw my husband watching this vid of a football player (Florida State Lineman), who didn’t move. I don’t know anything about football, so I can’t explain it, but it’s pretty durn funny in my opinion.

#3- What Do Red Foxes Eat?

Yesterday (or maybe it was the day before?) I posted a link to this video. My favorite Make Money Online blogger filmed his 7 year old daughter hand feeding a red fox. Apparently, foxes eat hamburger patties. Pretty, pretty fox.

So, I was talking to a friend via Skype and I started pestering about Bakugan. My nephew is totally into this, and since I have no idea what it’s about I had to do some research. Since I had to do the research anyway, I decided to take advantage of it and build a lens on it.

So, I’m chatting away about Bakugan board games, 700g Bakugan (seriously, I have no idea what this means, I think it’s a power thing?), and my friend asks me what Bakugan is. So, in a case of the blind leading the blind, I tell him it’s a cross between Transformers and Pokemon. Then I tell him that I’m too young for Transformers and too old for Pokemon. He asks how old I am, I say 29 turning 30 in like 12 days, and he says he’s 27 and HE’s not too young for Transformers, and I said “Yeah, but I’m a girl.”. So his response is “My Little Ponies?”, and mine is an embarrassed yes.

Next thing you know, he posts a link to this video.

If you don’t know who Rammstein is, they’re an awesome German band that apparently writes songs about incest, which is sick. But it’s in German, so no one really knows if that’s a rumor or truth unless they actually speak German and then you have to work on the basis that they’re not lying. Their Du Hast was insanely popular a few years back, and I still love it.

Update: I just found Spongebob singing Rammstein’s Du Hast. So had to include this.

Anyone who’s known me for 5 seconds can guess that I’m not a sports fan.  Seriously? I could give a rat’s…. tail.

But my husband asked if I wanted to go to the Hershey Bears VS Wilkesbarre-Scranton Penguins game, and thinking of research for my novel, I agreed. And to be honest, I really didn’t get into it, but mostly because my brain kept wandering off into what my MC would be thinking as she watched the game.

But there were some amusing moments during the game.

I’m not sure what it is with sports having stupid things during the intermissions, but they had some people come out wearing sumo wrestler outfits to hit some pucks into the net. I don’t know what they won, but the other sumo ended up flat on his back on the ice and couldn’t get up without help. Which I thought was funny.

The cool thing is, there was a fist fight in the first 2 minutes of the game. I thought that was awesome, but I was so busy taking pix of the fight, that I forgot to pull out my Flip and video it. I spent the rest of the game clutching my digital camera in one hand, and my Flip in the other waiting for another fight. It never came. This made me sad. Which annoyed my companions because I spent the rest of the game and the 45 minute ride home complaining about the lack of fights.

And for you sports nuts- that’s Cocoa posing with the Stanley Cup. I’m assuming that’s something important or special? My husband made me take the picture.

The Hershey Bears seem to be a pretty decent team, and won 3-2. On the other hand, they managed to not only miss a penalty shot, but took two shots at an unguarded net- and missed both.

The Penguins, however, seem to prefer slamming people into walls and sliding across the ice on their stomachs instead of their skates to actually making shots. Does this make them a bad team? Not necessarily. They may just have different goals than every other hockey team in the known world. I’m just sayin’.

This year, however, on our very first day, our parking row made me thing of someone very special:

But here’s something cool. A week or two ago, I received two emails- one right after the other- about my site.

The first that I read was an offer of a guest post. I didn’t think much about it at the time except that I was more than glad to get some free content. But, I wanted to check out their blog first, and I didn’t get around to that.

The second was an offer of product for review. So, I checked it out, called my mother up to make sure that it’s safe, and decided that I would indeed like to review the product. However, I forgot to actually tell the offerer that. Doh.

So a few days ago, I remembered to tell the product person that I’d love to review the product. Last night I got a huge, heavy package. The only thing I’d ordered in weeks was a cd, so I figured it was probably the product. But, really? So large? So heavy? I was expecting samples?

So I opened the box as soon as I got it indoors, and holy cow! 2 full size bottles of one product, two full size bottles of another product and a HUGE jug of another product. Wow. Um….

I remembered from the website that the products weren’t cheap, but couldn’t remember how much they were worth. So I went upstairs and looked it up. Almost $200 worth in total, not counting shipping. Color me impressed!

This is about 1-2 months supply if you use the full amount of each item every day that you’re supposed to. I’m sure the guy doesn’t want to wait that long for his review, but as I’m going on vacation soon, it’ll probably be a month or so before I get to write up a review.

So then, I decided to check out the potential guest poster’s blog. Again, wow. Very professional, well written, not in the least spammy, very positive, upbeat, etc. Wow. And they approached me!

I haven’t posted on that blog since Jan 2nd, but I think February is shaping up to be a very good month on that blog!

Thing is, the only pickles we have in the house are those sandwich stackers, right? And they’re just not the same. So I decided to make a grilled cheese and pickle sandwich for breakfast. And then I remembered that I had crumbled bacon for my salads….

So I thought “What a great opportunity to practice my video editing skillz!”. What I really should have thought is “What a great opportunity to practice my filming skillz!” But I didn’t.

So, even though I had the tripod attached to my Flip, I still held it by hand and gave you guys plenty of time to study my husband’s egg pan instead of the pan I was actually using. Aren’t I just so thoughtful?

Surprisingly- I liked it! Cheesy, yes, but fun and funny.

So, Hubs bought the last two collections left at Barnes and Noble’s for me. And we were all excited because several of the movies that he liked were listed on the back.

Well, guess what? I decided to watch GoldFinger tonight. Ripped off the plastic, and pulled out the DVDs.

And it was a totally different set.

Here I found that the correct DVDs are listed on the bottom of the box, but what was listed on the back is stuck on with that tacky gluey stuff. Either an advertisement, or someone accidentally pasted on the wrong listing.

On the upside, the collection actually has Thunderball, and someone on Twitter told me that’s one of the best ones.

I’m about 20 minutes into Dr. No right now. And I so want to get my hands on the books…

So, anyway, he pulls up this awesome video of Andrea Bocelli singing Elmo to sleep. I love it! Andrea Bocelli has the most incredible voice, and it’s so cute the way he keeps smiling at Elmo.

The thing is, I’ve just come out of a hard place, or am coming out of it now. Hard to tell depending on what time of day it is. Anyway, I’ve rediscovered my faith, and while it’s still a rough time, I just felt that it was very important to talk about this.

There are a handful of celebrities who have been on my heart lately. Blame it on Lynn Spears’ Through The Storm or what you will. I had the thought to start a positive celebrity blog, but I’m really not sure that’s what God has for me.  But I do know that while I’m praying for someone very important in my life, there are a few others that I need to lift up in prayer.

Britney Spears is one- though that may be because of her mother’s book. But also the Jonas Brothers who are professing Christians and are wearing purity rings. They’ve taken a LOT of flack in the media for that. And Christian or not, there is nothing wrong with abstaining until marriage. If they change their minds, I don’t want it to be because of peer pressure! And Miley Cyrus since she’s still essentially a good kid, but is starting to become affected by the limelight.

I started looking for a celebrity prayer list and found instead a rather strong gossip site. I know a lot of people love the celeb gossip sites, but I’ve turned my back on them (hold me accountable if I slip up!). Eventually, though, I found one site that either assigns you a celebrity to pray for or lets you pick one from their list. That sounded a bit controlling to me, though I’m sure that wasn’t the intention.

However, after a little more searching, I found Celebrity Prayer Network. This isn’t exactly what I had in mind, but it’s close. While I have it on my heart to pray for all celebs whether they’re believers or not, this site focuses on those who seem to be most in need. Like I said, Christian celebrities need to be supported as much or more than other celebs to keep them from caving into the media machine. But it’s a good starting off point if you don’t have special celebs on your heart.

The other one would be Barack Obama. He’s about to take the highest office in our land, to be one of the most powerful men in the world. He definitely needs prayer. Whether you voted for him or not, he’s ours for the time being, and anyone needs prayer- a leader most of all.

So, I’m sorry to any of you who find this highly offensive, but the whole point of the blogosphere is to put ourselves out there, isn’t it? So that’s what I’m doing. This site is the “all of me” personal blog. I may not share my hurts in so public a forum, but there ya go.
