Good time to buy, and if you get in over your head, remember that your mom redid your old room over in PINK and green STRIPES! (and your dad loves you, but says you can’t come home again), Hah! LOL

Adam- Thanks! And yeah, a classic house with actual character tends to have a lot of maintenance issues, and new houses are cookie cutters. It’s a trade off, and honestly, hubs and I don’t have a preference as long as it’s in decent condition and isn’t hideous.

Colleen- It definitely is; prices have come down to almost normal levels, and definitely there’s no issue about having to wait until our house is sold! Still, it’s a big step to take, and you can’t just move out into a smaller place if you get in over your head.

Yay, home owning! I’m nowhere near there yet, either, but it sounds exciting. And from what I hear, it’s one of the better times to be buying. Especially since you don’t have anything you need to sell.

Hey Lori,

Buy when you get a chance. Home owning is a great investment, but home maintenance is a pain in the ass. I know better than anyone. My wife and I own a home that was built in 1929 and it requires a lot of up keep.

But having something that is yours that you can do whatever you want to and that is building your credit is amazing.
