I saw an ad in The New Yorker years ago for an upscale jewelry store in Manhattan. I hope they fired the copywriter/proofreader – it read “In a class of it’s own.”
Lori- Ouch… so not good. And in the New Yorker no less? My mother was a proofreader for most of her working life. She clicks through to eBay and Amazon from here so that I’ll get the kickback, and when she does she reads through my most recent posts. She made sure to tell me she saw this one! On the downside, I’m too honest and had to explain to her that I wasn’t the one that captioned it.
and omg the it’s/its thing kills me. there’s an ad on my way to work, I pass it every day, and I just want to take a marker and do one of those editory delete symbols (I don’t know what it’s called) over the apostrophe. it kills me. kills me.
Totally funny!

That is awesome.
This is right up there with people using apostrophes in plurals. Makes me what to scream. Loudly. Over and over.

Grace- I’m glad you enjoyed! I assume you know about the blog of unnecessary quotation marks?
Jersey- *lol* Isn’t it great? Is it weird that I find it more shocking that this appeared in the political scene than I would in a major corporation?
