My lovely husband bought me collections 2 and 4 of the James Bond collections. You see, A- the MC in the novel I’m writing, is a James Bond fan. And I’ve never seen any James Bond movies- until I eventually caught From Russia With Love on On Demand.
Surprisingly- I liked it! Cheesy, yes, but fun and funny.
So, Hubs bought the last two collections left at Barnes and Noble’s for me. And we were all excited because several of the movies that he liked were listed on the back.
Well, guess what? I decided to watch GoldFinger tonight. Ripped off the plastic, and pulled out the DVDs.
And it was a totally different set.
Here I found that the correct DVDs are listed on the bottom of the box, but what was listed on the back is stuck on with that tacky gluey stuff. Either an advertisement, or someone accidentally pasted on the wrong listing.
On the upside, the collection actually has Thunderball, and someone on Twitter told me that’s one of the best ones.
I’m about 20 minutes into Dr. No right now. And I so want to get my hands on the books…

I’ve never seen a Bond movie either! Not a single one. When you finish, you’ll have to recommend one for my first. I actually heard that the more recent Casino Royale was really good from several people.
Colleen’s last blog post..Is It Moving Day Yet?
Tom- I forgot he drank coffee! I love that movie, even though the surprise-ness of it is gone after you’ve seen it once. Must be the snowboarding Granny.
Jersey- Don’t think I haven’t considered it!
Colleen- Well, I’ve now seen three, and not all Bond movies are equal. Thus far I’ve seen From Russia With Love, Dr. No, and another one who’s name escapes me. If you like cheese, I’d go for From Russia With Love- that’s my fave so far. If you want a more normal spy movie, Dr. No is fine. That’s the one with the chick in the white bikini with a belt.
I’ll probably write up a post detailing them when I’m done, but I’ll tell you what they’re just awesome for: Seeing what was spoofed in Austin Powers. I kid you not- it wasn’t just themed like an even cheesier Bond, it’s direct parts ripped off of specific movies! Totally awesome!
I finally have internet again!!
anyway, I have seen every Bond movie (except the latest) and love them all, even the bad ones. Dr. No is good, Goldfinger is *really* good, Goldeneye is my favorite Pierce Brosnan b/c of Sean Bean, avoid Moonraker until you’ve watched all the others and don’t have any other options, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is good mainly because it has Diana Rigg as the girl. if you would like any other thoughts/ recommendations, let me know.

grace’s last blog post..new year horror
*lol* Wow! Thanks for the info! I have to see what all hubs got me, but I plan on ordering the other two collections from eBay or something. I have to admit, I loved From Russia With Love. Super cheesy, and the girl had great hair in half the movie.
Still trying to figure out which one has the actress that plays Patsy Stone in AbFab.
she has like a miniscule role in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (the Diana Rigg one). I usually forget and miss her.
grace’s last blog post..science at its best
Grace- Oooh, I watched On Her Majesty’s Secret Service! However, I was also working on my laptop and frequently getting distracted by things like Twitter… so I missed her.
Oops. I’ll have to see if I have that one to watch over again. Definitely an odd premise. And I so wanna check out the original novels!
