I went to visit mom today. It’s often 2 months or more between visits despite being 20 minutes apart since I work second shift, and mom works 12 hours a day as a nurse.
My mother’s wanted to have an advice website for several years, and recently I bought her a domain and set up WordPress. We haven’t had a chance for me to show her how to actually use it until today.
I have created a monster.
Mother fell in love (instantly, I might add) with the theme I picked out for her. Then I showed her how simple it is to post. Once I realized that posting is just like writing an email (subject line is title, body is body, categories/labels are like the destination email address), teaching her was a snap.
Then she wanted to see what a blog looks like, so I brought her here. She actually read through several weeks of posts! And then I showed her Twitter. Oh no.
My mother actually posted her first tweet within minutes of ever even seeing Twitter. It’s a little disturbing. My husband called me while we were on another site, and while I was busy on the phone, she was loading up Twitter to see if anyone had responded!
But keeping odd hours makes her really sleepy, so while mom was taking a little nap, I decided to tackle a project that I’ve been meaning to get to, but am usually too distracted by the internet to actually do.
I have a series of Disney World affiliate shops, and I wanted a single logo that would work for most of them. It wasn’t what I had in mind originally, but I totally love it (the black with green stuff in the background is from a photo of the sidewalks at EPCOT at night). The more I learn to do with my photo editor, the more I love doing this stuff.
I didn’t get a whole lot done today, but it was worth it to spend time with my parents. Now I’m off to see what else I can do before hubby gets home.

Hey… I’ve tagged you to play a book buzz meme, if you’re interested. Click here.
My mother has plans for senior blog world domination as soon as she retires. I am scared. And your mom’s Twitter experience has made me doubly afraid of going anywhere near it.
Jersey- I’d say we should get them together, but I’m afraid the internet might implode.
