I’ve found the most soothing, and perfect thing ever to encourage my writing. A virtual aquarium.

No, really! My Finding Nemo dvds have virtual aquariums that you can play on your tv. Hubby and I haven’t had much luck with real aquariums, and the detail on Pixar animations is awesome.

So, while I’m typing away, I have the soothing sounds of an aquarium behind me. And if I need to get up and walk away? The soothing sight as well. And since there’s no words, and no story line, I get the much needed background noise, with none of the distraction. Very nice.

Saturday, I took my laptop out to the cafe that makes the best coffee (sucks that you have to choose between great coffee and great atmosphere, but I was in the mood for coffee), and after the annoying kid’s mother called him away, I got about 7 pages typed out before my butt went totally numb.

That’s 7 pages double spaced 12 pt Times New Roman.

Still, not too bad. And then I did a few more pages last night, and a few more tonight, bringing me up to just over 12 pages. Ok, so it’s not like masterful progress or anything, but it’s presentable. Of course, I probably won’t get to work on it at all Friday, so who knows how this’ll keep up, but at least I’m getting something done.

I know I’ve been really quiet lately, and I’m sorry. I plan to post tomorrow about some of the non-writing stuff I’ve been doing. I’ve got a lot of updates that I need to do on my other sites, so I have no idea which will end up getting my attention.

And if you’re wondering why I can’t write Friday? It’s because hubby’s taking me to see Dark Knight right after work. And it’s a loooong movie.

A numb butt is just one of the hazards to being a writer.

I wish I’d been warned that before I decided to become one! :)
