After I finished the bulk of my garb site, I spent time listing 1/3 of my handmade jewelry on eBay. I didn’t sell any, but I had a few auction watchers. So after agonizing for a bit, I decided to take Wolf’s advice, and opened a store on Etsy. I’ve had a few page views, which is encouraging.

I haven’t finished loading up all the jewelry yet, though, since it takes a while to go through all the information they want. But at least the listings stay live for 4 months, and it costs half of eBay’s fees! That widget automatically loads up the newest listings, so you’ll know if I’ve added anything to my store.

In other news, I am now officially solvent in my affiliate marketing. Saturday night, I had a purchase, or sign up, or something, that shot me over the edge. My BANS program is now fully paid for out of its own earnings, as well as the domains I bought for the stores. The hosting I was paying for before I got into anything other than AdSense, so I’m not counting that. After this, everything is profit (unless I actually open my wallet for advertising).

Saturday night and Sunday, I cut out the pieces to make: 2 pair of bloomers, 2 tops, 1 pair of pants (trousers), a table cloth, and a Christmas stocking. I’ve since cut out 2 hats. So, hopefully, this weekend I’ll be sewing it all up. Or at least some of it. That would be nice. Particularly since I intend to actually wear one of the tops in public- and I hope the other top and the pants will be public-worthy as well, though maybe not as I used… ahem… unusual fabric.

And since I hate throwing out scraps, I’m thinking of starting a crazy quilt. Do you think I should start with the black cotton with the glow in the dark eyes? That’s what I was using for a pair of the bloomers, and I really just think it would be… special.

I’ve found the most soothing, and perfect thing ever to encourage my writing. A virtual aquarium.

No, really! My Finding Nemo dvds have virtual aquariums that you can play on your tv. Hubby and I haven’t had much luck with real aquariums, and the detail on Pixar animations is awesome.

So, while I’m typing away, I have the soothing sounds of an aquarium behind me. And if I need to get up and walk away? The soothing sight as well. And since there’s no words, and no story line, I get the much needed background noise, with none of the distraction. Very nice.

Saturday, I took my laptop out to the cafe that makes the best coffee (sucks that you have to choose between great coffee and great atmosphere, but I was in the mood for coffee), and after the annoying kid’s mother called him away, I got about 7 pages typed out before my butt went totally numb.

That’s 7 pages double spaced 12 pt Times New Roman.

Still, not too bad. And then I did a few more pages last night, and a few more tonight, bringing me up to just over 12 pages. Ok, so it’s not like masterful progress or anything, but it’s presentable. Of course, I probably won’t get to work on it at all Friday, so who knows how this’ll keep up, but at least I’m getting something done.

I know I’ve been really quiet lately, and I’m sorry. I plan to post tomorrow about some of the non-writing stuff I’ve been doing. I’ve got a lot of updates that I need to do on my other sites, so I have no idea which will end up getting my attention.

And if you’re wondering why I can’t write Friday? It’s because hubby’s taking me to see Dark Knight right after work. And it’s a loooong movie.

I was watching the Jay Leno show this week while preparing the next day’s meal. Gillian Anderson was the guest, which didn’t impress me much as I’ve never been an X-Files fan. However, in the course of her interview, I began to like her.

She’s funny, absentminded, and totally normal. But it wasn’t until she and Jay began discussing the paparazzi that I really got into it. Why? Because they cracked a dirty joke. Well, Jay cracked the joke, Gillian made a snappy comment right back to him and then promptly covered her face in embarrassment. I like her.

Go ahead and skip the first 4 minutes or so- the joke occurs at approximately 4:20 of 7:22. Awesome. :)
