I’ve registered the domains, I bought a hosting package from HostGator. I intend to use WordPress (thanks for the recommendation Holly!) for VixenCrafts.

Here’s the problem.

Supposedly HostGator has transferred VixenCrafts to their hosting plan. But I don’t understand a bit of CPanel or worse- if I’m even supposed to start at CPanel. I can’t find information on whether I can use ads on WordPress if I host it myself. I don’t know how to set up the script or anything.

Eventually I can figure out anything, or get tech support to help me along. I just don’t like bothering them unless it’s absolutely necessary. I’m about to head off and work some more on this problem.

In the mean time, I’ve completed a few how to’s, and written down the rest of the ones I intend to start with (since I keep forgetting the ones that I haven’t done yet). I also bought a few more ornaments to decorate. Hopefully I’ll get to some of it tonight.

On the upside- I totally rock at making home made turkey corn noodle soup. :)

As I posted yesterday about R2D2, I have a soup pot that holds approximately 3-4 gallons.

Currently, it is simmering away in the kitchen with 2 gallons of water, and two turkeys worth of bones and skin. Why? Because I’m making stock.

Why two turkeys? Because I’ve never made stock before and I panicked that I wouldn’t have enough skin and bones to make enough stock to make both turkey pot pie and turkey corn noodle soup. But I knew I’d have enough turkey.

You see, I don’t make Thanksgiving dinner. Usually my aunt does, but as she and my uncle are aging, and my brother wants to start hosting some of the family gatherings, and everyone in my family thinks every human consumes at least 5 pounds worth of food at every gathering, even though they, themselves, do not. Lets put it this way- my father and aunt were very proud when they cut down to 15 desserts for 17 people.

Anyway- they always make entirely too much food, and make up for it by sending it home with everyone else. Since hubby and I are always trying to reduce our grocery bills, we happily take it.

Usually I just pack us mashed potatoes and turkey 5 days straight for work and throw out the rest, but this year I wanted to do something different. So I prepared. I made certain that I had the flour and eggs to make pot pie. I bought a pie crust and veggies to make turkey pie. I bought egg noodles and corn so I could make turkey corn noodle soup.

And then I asked my in-laws to save the skin and bones for me. And then I asked my brother to send the skin and bones from both his turkey, and my father’s turkey home with me. Dad had thrown out most of the bones from his turkey, but not all, so guess what I have? 2 1/2 turkey bones and skin.

That is a lot of turkey stuff. On the upside, any excess stock can be frozen for later use. On the downside? R2D2 is bigger than my sink. How am I supposed to wash that sucker?

My parents have a wonderful habit of picking up items that they think might be useful to me at some point in my future years. Thing is, they don’t really think about where I’m going to store all of this stuff until it becomes useful.

For instance, about 3 maybe 4 years ago, I was living in a smallish 2 bedroom apartment with my now husband. At the time we weren’t even engaged, and given my personal beliefs, we didn’t even share a room. So really, I had half of a 2 bedroom apartment.

My mother decides that a huge soup pot will definitely become useful to me at some point in time. Now, I don’t know how much this thing holds, but I’m guessing around 4 gallons. It may only be 3.

So, I bring it home where it shifted every few months around the dining room. Why the dining room? Because it was the area of the apartment the least used, and the kitchen was about the size of an uncomfortably small bathroom. I didn’t even have room for all of my normally sized cookware.

My husband referred to it as R2D2, and it’s probably about the same size minus legs and intelligence.

To be continued…
