I’ve finished about half of my “how to’s” that I’d planned on writing before launching VixenCrafts. I have matching pictures for about half of the how to’s, but not necessarily the same ones that I have written.

In the mean time, I’ve figured out that I can’t transfer the domains over to HostGator until they’ve been registered for two months. That’s fine, I can wait. I’m still not sure if I have them “hosted” properly. I changed the nameservers, but is that enough? According to the tech guy at work, it’s not. I’ll either chat to HostGator tonight or tomorrow and try to get this settled.

I have, however, found a way to procrastinate and save time thanks to Hope Wilbanks. A few days ago she posted about NetVibes, and it’s just what I’ve been looking for. I like to actually visit the blogs I read, and yet I waste a lot of time each day checking individual blogs multiple times per day just in case there’s a new post up. With NetVibes, I can set up feeds to individual modules so that the new titles for each blog are all together on one page. A simple mouseover pops up a blurb so I can decide if I want to read it now or later.

So- procrastination is while I’m still tweaking it the way I like it, and saving time is when I’m done and can just use it as my one stop “everything” page. Of course, the bookmark feature is exceptionally handy since I use the computer at work as much as at home. No more scribbling notes to look up when I get home because I can’t find that website I have bookmarked.

I can even have it set up to be logged into my email account so I always know when new messages arrive.

I’m so liking this.

You all know how much I love Walt Disney World, but something I don’t talk about often is how much I like Florida in general. My husband thinks I’m weird because I get excited as soon as we start seeing palm trees. I don’t know why, I’m just fascinated by them. Someday I’d like to explore the whole of Florida.

A company like Trusted Tours and Attractions could certainly help me get the most bang for my buck. In fact, their Key West tours include the Key West Pirate Soul Museum (awesome since I love pirates and plan to write about them some day) and Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum (awesome since I’m a writer). The prices are pretty good too- for example, the Ernest Hemingway tour is only $10.50 through Trusted Tours and Attractions. I’m not too keen on the ghost tours, but there are a lot of boating attractions that I’d love to do, including several trips on board the schooner Liberty. They even have train and trolley rides and tours. How cool!

Right now they’re even running a contest. Anyone who signs up for their e-newsletter is entered to win 4 free tickets for a tour in the city of their choice. The cities listed on their site are: Atlanta, Boston, Charleston, Chicago, Ft. Myers, Key West, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Memphis, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Niagara Falls, Orlando, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, Savannah, St Augustine, Tampa, and Washington DC. You’ll want to sign up soon, because the contest ends Friday, December 14, 2007.

If you’re ever in the market for a trip to Key West, check out Trusted Tours and Attractions. The prices are great, and the options are phenomenal.

Ok, I know these posts are a bit boring, but I can’t write about writing unless I’m actually writing. And instead I’m trying to understand all the fiddley bits involved with a website.

I’ve figured out how to get WordPress onto HostGator. There’s something marked Fantastico something with a big smiley face that automatically installs the script. Yay!

On the other hand, I found out that I was trying to transfer the wrong domain. I did all the set up for VixenCrafts, when I told HostGator that I wanted WordVixen on their host. Doh. I actually want both there, but now I have to go untangle the changes I made to my accounts.

I am making progress though, and I’m very proud of that.
