My husband and I had Disney Mobile since the month they launched. We had nothing but problems from the start which continued until yesterday. Why yesterday? Well, Friday we were notified that Disney Mobile was shutting down their doors. Business would continue until Dec 31, but if we wanted to keep our phone numbers it was recommended that we make the switch by November.
So, yesterday, hubby and I headed down to our local Verizon retailer, picked out our plans, and took basic phones since they were free. All I cared about was text and camera, or so I thought. We got the phones home and spent two hours transferring our contact list and customizing our phones and then… hubby started looking for games. No games on the phone? Rediculous! Fine, he got online and tried to download games. Would you believe that we managed to get the only phones that can’t download games? Or ringtones?
We took them back today, and decided that if we had to pay to get something as basic as downloads, we’d pay. As rediculous as it is for me since I hate phones, and mainly only use my cell phone for my hubby and my mother (as in “what kind of cereal, honey?” and “I’m heading over, ma”)- I absolutely loathed the ringtones that the phone had.
Thing is, I wanted a RAZR. We almost got one yesterday because the guy kept telling us that it was $30. When I finally said I wanted it, he says “oh, that was $30 after the $50 mail in rebate. It’s actually $80 up front.”. So we passed it over. I don’t like how wide RAZRs are anyway, and the cheap phone was actually kind of cute. I wasn’t even going to touch the KRAZR since it was so expensive.
But since we decided that paying for a phone isn’t so evil, I started thinking that $49.95 isn’t too bad to get a KRAZR. All the goodness of a RAZR with half the width. And I could get it in red (which is more of a burgandy, actually). I like things that are different.
I had hubby convinced that I should have one (yay me!), but not convinced to be happy about it. Then the sales guy points out a nearly identical phone, but a bit smaller and a wee bit cheaper. It has everything hubby could possibly want on it, and more. It’s marked $29.99- but is free with purchase of a KRAZR. Sold!
So I’m happy. I got the phone that I wanted. And the ringtones are pretty cool.
