So, the girls are ready to leave and we all walk outside- just as some dark clouds roll right overhead. Ok, that didn’t look too good. We chat a minute and look over. A nice bolt of lightening shoots down. I know it’s not but it looks like it was just behind the next building. Ooookay. And I parked at the other end of the parking lot. Pretty soon another bolt shoots down. Have I ever mentioned just how much I hate lightening?
So, I gave quick hugs and took off. It was barely drizzling at one end of the parking lot and by the time I got to the van it was nearly pouring. The safest place in lightening is inside a vehicle right? So I decided to wait it out.
Of course, I’d forgotten to bring a book and I was afraid to use my cell phone. It took me several minutes to remember that the girls had brought me books. Duh. The reason I’m in the van in the first place.
I get about one paragraph in before the storm really strikes. Trees (ok, saplings) blowing in the wind. The van rocking from side to side. The sound of hail on the windshield. And the parking lot is practically a river.
My first thought is “OMG, is the van moving?” And my second thought is “record every moment. Maybe I can use this in a book someday”.
So yes, I spent approximately half an hour alternating praying for survival and staring at each drop of rain and memorizing the pattern the rain streaked light left on my book for future reference.

Obviously you survived to pen this post.
Um, Travis? I use a computer. Are you feeling alright?
Oh? So now you’re going to get all technical on me?
Well, if you want technical… it’s a laptop.
