Yesterday a friend asked if I’d tried the new Pepsi Summer Mix. The what? No, I’d never even heard of it. A few hours later he brought me a cold can fresh from the soda machine. Emboldened by my love of Holiday Spice Pepsi (Someone want to tell me why it’s gone? I love that stuff!) I took a sip.
Ewww! Apparently it’s supposed to be some sort of tropical fruit mix, but it just tastes like fizzy pineapple. Not that I don’t like pineapple, but, um, if I want fruit juice, I’ll buy fruit juice, thanks very much.
I understand the companies have to be “innovative” these days to beat the competition. But it just seems like a real waste of resources to put things like this into production. If everyone hates it, it’s a failure. If people love it and they stop making it anyway you’re embittering your customers (like me with the the lack of Holiday Spice Pepsi).
I like having choices as much as the next person, but our soda machine has no regular Pepsi now. It’s just Diet and this fruity thing. I kid you not- I had a nightmare about it last night!
However, my opinion isn’t the only one out there- here’s a review I found while searching for a pic.

Ew. I don’t even like pepsi in general…
Sabine:
Amen, sistah girl.
Word Vixen:
I got a Buzz Cola at one of the local 7/11s made over for The Simpson’s movie, I’ll let you know if it’s better than that — but given that it’s not Pepsi, it probably will be.
Both- Hey! I like Pepsi!
Sabine- I hope you hang around in the comments for a while. It’s actually a little depressing to click your link and find nothing there.
Angryman- I’m not sure I’ve ever heard of Buzz, but let me know what you think! I remember the first time I had a Virgin Cola- too sweet. Ick.
Word Vixen:
I always found virgins to be sweet, but never too sweet. They were . . . you know what? I’ll just stop now.
Buzz Cola is the soda from the land of The Simpson’s. It’s all part of a big marketing push, Buzz Cola, Duff Beer, Kwik-E-Mart’s, Squishees, etc. Check it out if you get a chance. I’m going to do a post on it at my blog before the movie comes out, but I have to get back to the 7/11 first.
I LOVE my diet Pepsi and that’s about it for the Pepsi and that’s about it for the product line. I totally agree with you about the fruit juice thing, too.
