I didn’t mean to post again so soon, but I have two recommendations for anyone looking for a blogging community of/for writers.

1. Communati- it’s basically a copy of my favorite (now extinct) blogging community which was called Writing Up. WU was packed with freelance writers and a few fiction writers as well. Communati uses the same easy template, and is starting out with a core group of bloggers who were displaced by the demise of WU. The upside is that more people are exposed to your writing as a result of each post going onto the main page as it’s posted. The downside is that you can’t decorate around your posts or choose colors. Lets just say that when WU was live, that was where I made most of my AdSense profits. I can see this site doing the same for me.

2. WritingDown- this is a MySpace group that was originally made to house those of us who were displaced by Writing Up’s demise. It’s begun to grow into a nice group atmosphere for all writers, though seems to lean more toward fiction writers. There are some great people on there, as well as an ongoing round robin type of story. Good for participation and discussions as opposed to standard post/comment interaction. If the link doesn’t work, just go to MySpace, then to Groups, and then search for WritingDown.

Remember how I said the website that I review for wants me to interview an author? Well, I was reading through the previously published interviews on the site to get a feel for the kind of questions they like. I came across this one and just started laughing. Maybe I shouldn’t admit it, but it actually took me a minute to realize why a “stallion named Betsy” was funny.

Anyway, the real reason that you should all go read this interview was the author’s response to “Ever had any unusual moments while performing research?”. Absolutely hilarious. It’s also a little less than half the page down if you want to skip right to it. I’ve never read her books (the author’s name is Brandilyn Collins) as they’re suspense, and I don’t do suspense (or thrillers, or horror), but if she ever branches out, I may have to give her a try.

I’m going to apologize for the lack of personality in this post, but I was feeling guilty for not having posted in so long. Plus, having my post about Miss Snark up was starting to depress me. So here’s what’s going on in my literary world.

1. Finished reading Hal Spacejock (the first book). It’s awesome, I highly recommend it. Very funny, and Hal is like a cross between Han Solo and Arthur Dent. (Arthur Dent being from Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) Although, I completely see why everyone is obsessed with Clunk. He’s just cool. (Lets put it this way, if you like Red Dwarf, it’s like Lister vs. Kryton. Lister’s awesome, but Kryton is just…. well…. more. Very hard to explain.)

2. I was offline for several days due to my First Wedding Anniversary, and when I came back I found out that I won the Hal Spacejock trio! How cool? I went around telling everyone that I won the first book for my anniversary since it arrived the day before my anniversary. Now I get to tell them I won the whole set for my anniversary since the announcement was only a few days later. How cool is that? Thank you, Simon!

By the way, if you’re interested, you can still enter for another drawing at Hal’s Diary . Hurry up and enter, he doesn’t give a closing date.

3. Due to an unfortunate cold, a fortunate gift/prize (see #1), and an ADD husband (not diagnosed, but if you lived with him…), I didn’t really have time to write much. I didn’t even have time to check my email more than once or twice throughout the week. However, Monday I did manage to sneak in a bit of writing. Probably only 2-300 words per WIP (yeah, I know. Who’s ADD now? I can’t concentrate on any project if it means that I’m totally excluding the rest.).

Sunday I spent catching up on blogs (reading them). Today was my first day back at work, and I have to go cook as soon as I finish this. Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in a few hundred words more. On the upside, many of the blogging agents I read are heading off to the BEA, and if I can resist the siren call of the Snarkives, I should have a bit more time on my hands to put into creative efforts.

4. I’m thinking of designing a t-shirt that says “Procrastinating is writing”. Maybe later.
